Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a State of
relaxation and/or Level of concentration that the
average individual reaches daily. Self-Hypnosis is
accomplished most often when one is "absorbed" in a
TV program, experiencing repetition (highway
driving), or daydreaming. "Hypnotherapy" is a form
of guided relaxation using concentration where the
ideas expressed (suggestions) by the therapist are
generally experienced more clearly, which in turn
creates a new awareness. Depending on one's
motivations, there may be a shift in attitude about
specific subject matters (habits and stresses). The
only requirement for getting therapeutic results is
that the person has conscious desire to change, or
in other words, is in agreement with the
suggestions.
Hypnotherapy allows a person to change
there state of mind to increase awareness.
When the mind is in this heightened state of awareness,
you can recall information and change unwanted
habits. The conscious mind can easily recall data from the subconscious The subconscious or
unconscious stores the information of everything
that has happened in your life. It Stores every
book you read, every song you heard, and
everything that has happened. It even holds
information you cannot consciously remember.
Hypnotherapy can help change unwanted
habits.
Habits such as Smoking, over eating, worrying for no
reason, lack of concentration, experiencing to
much stress, and much more. Almost everyone
at sometime or another has acquired unhealthy
habits or patterns in their life. Hypnotherapy
can allow us to change those negative patterns
and replace them with healthy ones.
What does a hypnosis feel like?
The progressive relaxation hypnosis technique is the
most popular technique today. This technique allows the client
to feel extremely relaxed. A lot of people believe the
relaxing feeling is hypnosis. Although most methods are relaxing, the relaxation has little to do with being in a
hypnotic state. In a hypnotic state, your
completely aware of what's going on around you.
If someone where to knock on the door, you would hear
them knock. But, you might not care that they
are knocking. During Hypnosis, you are completely aware of the
world around you.
Common misconceptions about hypnosis.
Hypnosis is misrepresented in almost every Hollywood
Movie. I watched a movie a few days ago where someone else's
voice spoke through the person in a Hypnotic State. It's no wonder
so many people
are afraid of hypnosis. Hypnosis is nothing to
be afraid of. You cannot get hurt from having
hypnosis. Hypnosis allows you to use the power
of your own
mind There are no harsh chemicals,
no drugs, nothing bad for you. Hypnosis
can allow you to become aware of your Life Patterns and
change you life how you want it.
Life Patterns.
We all have patterns in our lives. Becoming
aware of those patterns allows us to change them.
There are many self discovery exercises we can use
to help us identify those pattern. It could be
a pattern of overeating during emotional stress,
drinking to feel better, working too much to escape
home life, or many different scenarios. A good place to start
is determine what you would like to change that is
unhealthy in your life. If you can't determine
why something is happening, or having trouble
changing, try hypnosis. The
subconscious remembers everything
and can be accesses through hypnosis.
Do people do things under hypnosis that are
against their morals or values?
No. Hypnosis cannot
detach the ego. As a general rule, if a client were
given a suggestion he or she did not agree with, he or
she would simply refuse, laugh at it, or awaken (regain
normal awareness). In stage hypnosis, the volunteers
are usually under the influence of alcohol and have come
to the show for the purpose of relaxing, acting silly,
and have a good time, therefore, they are easily
encouraged to do so. Because inhibitions are often
reduced under hypnosis, the subject is more likely to
experience their inner character traits and motivations.
Can a person's memory be erased?
No. If one undergoing
hypnosis wants to remember, he or she will. In some
cases, if the client wants to forget something, amnesia
can be produced with a post-hypnotic suggestion, but
it wears off as quickly as the subject wishes.
Although, a certified hypnotherapist can help a person
transform a memory which may be causing problems. The
mind contains unconscious memories which generally are
responsible for our decisions, attitudes, feelings, and
behaviors.
Can
everyone be hypnotized?
Yes,
provided one has normal physiological and psychological
functioning and therefore the ability to concentrate
and/or relax. As long as a normal human being is
willing, he or she may undergo hypnosis. Insusceptible
people are simply not willing. There is a positive
correlation between one's willingness to relax and
concentrate and the ability to undergo hypnosis.
Do people under hypnosis
go to sleep or become unconscious?
No. One should not expect to go to sleep! Hypnosis is
a hyper-state of awareness that feels very relaxing.
One is completely aware of everything that is occurring in
the surrounding environment as well as that which is
happening in the inner mind. Hypnosis is a state of
consciousness located somewhere between awake and asleep.
Some fatigued people may go out of hypnosis by falling
into natural sleep, simply because they were tired, but then
they may need to be awakened; if a person is trying to
recall a memory under hypnosis, he or she can't do so while
sleeping. On the other hand, if a person is listening
to a self-hypnosis tape and he or she falls out of hypnosis
into sleep, the suggestions will likely still be effective.
What can be treated with Hypnotherapy?
A qualified clinical
hypnotherapist has the capabilities to help alleviate or
transform a multitude of symptoms and problems. Many
hypnotherapists carry credentials in other professional
fields and therefore utilize hypnosis within the context
of their specialty areas. The more qualifying
information one requests (such as educational
background, specialization, and the content of the
treatment program) the better possibility that one
seeking the benefits of hypnotherapy will match his or
her needs appropriately.
A Story about Hypnosis
I had a problem with eating too many little debbie's.
I would sometimes eat a box at a time. After trying
many times to quit, I went to a friend of mine who was
a hypnotherapist. She help me into a hypnotic state and
guided me back to the source of the problem. I found
myself in the hospital. I broke my foot and was in
pain. Soon my mother came in and brought me a big bag
of candy. The Therapist guided me trough several scenes
and I discovered that my parents would give me candy and
sweets when I didn't feel well. From an early age, I
associated sweets and candy with emotional comfort. The
Therapist then help me to associate those same feelings
of emotional comfort with drinking water. For several
weeks after I didn't even think about sweets and candy.
A Story about Life between lives
One session during a life between lives the client
was a guy probley about 300 years ago. He was
a big, brutal man who was angry with the world.
Left bitter after a divorce, he discovered that his best
friend was now dating his ex-wife. After finding
that out he went out with a shoot gun and killed him.
That started a new chapter in his life. Scene
after scene, he got into fights and often stabbing his
victims. After living a very unhappy life.
He died in a car accident. After he died his soul
rose out of his body and all the people he killed was
there in a line. One after another came up to him
and forgive him for what he had done.
